Dear ÅAS’ associations in Åbo! The Student Union of ÅAU (ÅAS) is organising a training session for associations on Wednesday, 22 January from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Registration closes on 21 January at 11.59 p.m.!

It is once again time for ÅAS’ associations’ training! The associations’ training is aimed at the boards of ÅAS’ associations. This year’s training will take place on 22 January from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Kåren. The training is held in two parts with a break including refreshments (something small to eat and drink) in the middle.

The first part is a general section where the Student Union’s Board of  2025 introduces themselves and the Student Union

We will go through what funds our associations can apply for, as well as how to do this. The Harassment Contact Persons and our Students’ Rights Expert will be present and explain how they can help students and the associations. ÅAS’ Communications Specialist will explain how our calendar and newsletter can be used by the associations. Additionally, Tapani Harkila, the Finance Director of Åbo Akademi University, will talk about what support associations can apply for from the university. The student restaurants Kårkaféerna will also be on-site to tell about their operations.

The second part after the break will consist of the following topics (you can attend the one that feels most relevant/interests you the most):

  • Secretary training (how to write meeting minutes, archiving, annual report)
  • Communication and business collaboration (how to make information accessible, marketing, business collaboration, how to seek sponsorship)
  • Accessibility and inclusion (how to organise a safe, accessible, and successful event, inclusion, contact persons)
  • Current issues at ÅAU (work processes, properties, strategy)

We recommend that as many of your board members as possible participate! You register with your own contact details, not the association’s. Registration is done in Lyyti.
