Fanny Jonasson and Erik Östman elected as student representatives to the Åbo Akademi University Board

The Student Union of ÅAU’s (ÅAS) Council has elected Fanny Jonasson and Erik Östman as student representatives to the Åbo Akademi University Board, for its 2023–2024 term. The Åbo Akademi University Board is the highest decision-making body at ÅAU and consists of ten members.
Fanny Jonasson studies law at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Business and Economics (FSE). Jonasson has gathered experience of ÅAU’s administration as a member of the Faculty Council at FSE. She has acted as Chair of the Board and Member of the Board responsible for study-related matters for the subject association Stadga. Jonasson has also been active and committed to doing advocacy work, both within ÅAU, and on a national level.
Erik Östman studies chemical engineering at the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FNT) and has been active in the subject association Kemistklubben. Östman is now the vice chair of the Student Union Board and the board member responsible for higher education policy. He has been a member of the FNT Faculty Council and has improved the contact between students and staff.
”We want to point out the students’ perspective, for example in the planning of the premises on campus, flexible study alternatives for students in various life situations, the well-being of students, and a safe and inclusive university. We want to do our best to represent all students in all matters”, answers Östman and Jonasson when asked what their goals for their term are.
Åbo Akademi University has now published the results of the academic election [link to ÅAU’s intranet] which took place on Wednesday 9 November.
