Shrove Tuesday (Fastlaskiainen)

The Student Union of Åbo Akademi University celebrates Shrove Tuesday with a sledding competition called Fastlaskiainen on Vårdberget in Åbo and at Fiskarstranden in Vasa.

Student associations participate with creative sleds in the big sledding competition – and the best team wins a trophy!

In recent years, ÅAS has celebrated Fastlaskiainen in Åbo together with the Student Union of the University of Turku, Turku University of Applied Sciences Student Union, and the Student Union Novium.

In Vasa, the event is organized in collaboration with the Student Union of the University of Vaasa, the Student Association of Hanken School of Economics in Vaasa, the Student Union Novium, the Student Union of Vaasa University of Applied Sciences, and the student association Justus for law students in Vaasa (University of Helsinki).
