Dear students and student associations! It’s once again time for the traditional sledding competition at Vårdberget/Vartiovuori – Fastlaskiainen! ️ After the sledding competition, we’ll keep the party going with After-Pulka at Kåren. 🎉
Fastlaskiainen and sledding competition at Vårdberget
Fastlaskiainen, organized by ÅAS in collaboration with Novium and TYY with support from Study in Turku, will take place on 4 March from 2 p.m. to around 4 p.m. The event is free for the public, and no prior registration is required. All student associations under ÅAS, Novium and TYY are welcome to participate in the sledding competition free of charge!
Traditionally, Fastlaskiainen is held on Shrove Tuesday at Vårdberget in Åbo as a sledding competition between different student associations. The sledding hill is the paved hill that leads downhill from the observatory towards the summer theater. Remember that the event takes place in a public space, which means that drinking alcohol is not allowed.
After-Pulka at Kåren
After-Pulka at Kåren starts immediately after the sledding competition. At Kåren, you can play bingo, pool, and board games on the second floor. Additionally, the dance floor will be open in the Banquet Hall. At the bar, you can buy beer, shots, energy drinks, hot cocoa, and more, all at student prices.
Our wonderful overall patch will be distributed at After-Pulka, so make sure to stop by!

NB! After-Pulka will be held on the second floor, and Kåren’s accessibility is unfortunately limited. If you need the elevator, please contact the Fastlaskiainen Coordinator Anneke (anneke.smedinga@abo.fi) or ÅAS’ Board member Melina (evenemang-abo@studentkaren.fi) in advance. There is an accessible toilet on the second floor.
