Shrove Tuesday 2026 organized 17 February at Vårdberget

The Student Union of Åbo Akademi University (ÅAS) together with TYY and Novium are organising Fastlaskiainen (Shrove Tuesday sledding competition) 2026 on Vårdberget Åbo 17 February. The event starts at 2 p.m. but we urge you to be there by 1.30 p.m. The event will end at 4 p.m.

Fastlaskiainen is a traditional event where the student associations compete with building sleds, which they then ride down the Vårdberg hill. Afterwards the public can vote for the winner. Fastlaskiainen is an appreciated event, so come to Vårdberget and cheer for your favorite sled!

After-Sled at Kåren

After the sledding competition there will be a After-Sled party that takes place at Kåren. The Fastlaskiainen overall patches will be handed out at the After-Sled party.
